blossom women's program

Social-economic depravity, gender discrimination and cultural injustice are all factors which contribute to the traumas women experience and many times leads to incarceration. Then there is the emotional, physically and mental abuse these women encounter that also places them on a pathway to incarceration. Statically speaking, one in every five women has been raped and many as 28% experiences physical battering by an intimate partner and in many instance this victimization had not been reported. Consequently, many women who have experienced abuse frequently become homelessness only to be exposed to a greater risk of victimization. In many of these cases oppression brought about because of sexual and physical victimization has lead to substance abuse. These women have resorted to drug use in an effort to maintain sanity in the face of abuse, to sustain a life style, or as directed by a violent partner, this is not to mention the mental illness many of the women suffer.

Blossom is dedicated to helping women overcome generational and situational poverty, by providing educational, motivational, and financial support, in order to improve the individual’s ability to live a more productive life. The organization is designed to provide resources to women who need a new start; to promote the physical, mental, and moral well-being of the individual, family unit and community.

Educational Program Goals: To provide resources relating to adult literacy, human resource education and job placement.
